We told you about
giffgaff, the new people-powered mobile network back in September last year. As a quick recap, the SIM-only based network is a low cost alternative which rewards users based on their level of interaction with the brand. Users earn points through referrals, by creating their own user-generated campaign, or voting on business decisions which are posted online. The rewards can then be transferred into credit rebates, cash, or donations to a charity of their choice.
The
Tool hire campaign which has been growing organically since November marks the first major push by the brand since its launch. It is a digitally based campaign hosted on the giffgaff website and on
YouTube. Users can sign up online to hire a series of props which they then need to use in a short film, a great way to get the news of the brand out there... oh and did we mention every entrant will receive two V.I.G. SIM cards including free UK calls, texts, internet for a year. There are also five £5,000 prizes for the very best submissions.
Our favourite Tool is
The Cuddle Monster, the wearer and 4 friends walk around in a giant hug suit and in their words 'give the cold and downright miserable folk of this land cuddles'. Check out the website or YouTube channel to see the entries so far. The campaign was created by Albion and Splendid Communications, both based in London.
