Facebook's web traffic passed the mighty
Google's last week in the US.
Web analytics specialists
Hitwise confirmed that Facebook received 7.07 percent of all US web traffic compared to Google's 7.03.
This is thanks to Facebook's dramatic increase in traffic - up 185% compared with this time last year, whereas Google's traffic has risen by only 9%. Updates to Facebook's news-feed, the integration of Facebook chat and the rise in casual gaming via the site through collaborative games such as Farmville have all contributed.
Other web analyst companies such as
comScore still list Google as the top site, and, as innovations like Buzz gain traction it should not be underestimated.
