For Valentine's Day AT&T is inviting loved-up social media users to submit messages of their love to be shouted from a real mountaintop
A group of 'fully qualified Mountain Man Yellers' have been recruited to select the Valentine's shout-outs submitted via Twitter and Facebook and yell them from the top of Mt. Baldy in California. At 8am PT today AT&T will stream a webcast of all the live shouting, and send contributors a video clip of their own dramatic declaration to pass on to their loved-ones.
Greg Hahn, executive creative director with ad agency BBDO, which created the campaign for AT&T, said: 'I think the biggest shift in marketing online is the ability to explore two-way communication.'
There have been over 7,000 shouts submitted so far - with more than one marriage proposal amongst the browseable selection on the 'Shout your love from the Mountaintop' Facebook page. AT&T don't specify how many messages the grizzly mountain men will get through, or how long the yelling will last, but even those who don't get their shouts picked are reassured that they will receive a special something.
