While our thoughts are with our Kiwi cousins in light of today's earthquakes near Christchurch, everyone's favorite antipodean island was in the spotlight for better things over the weekend, namely a rapid-rise video '
Rear View Girls'.
It's a simple premise. A hidden camera in a pair of jeans captures the male admiration of
Jessie and
Reanin, two callipygian ladies strolling around Los Angeles. Skateboarding homies, a 'Jesus'-like figure and several dudes with their girlfriends are 'busted' by the gals strolling around the City of Angels. We were hoping for a
Murray Hewitt cameo, but unfortunately it didn't come to pass.
The spot, from
Colenso BBDO shot by its creative
Jae Morrison, has already racked up 5.5 million views over the weekend.
NZ Marketing magazine
revealed it was picked to promote
Levi's Curve ID range of jeans.
We're big fans of the Curve range, which suggests a better fit for women sick of trying on so many pairs of jeans. But given part of the jeans' design appeal is to eliminate excess fabric bunching above an ample tucchus, the
behind-the-scenes video, which shows how easily a hidden camera can disappear and shoot through a hole in the jeans slightly above the butt-crack (Is there a technical term for this in the denim world? Let us know.) seems counter intuitive.
But this is a pedantic digression. Generous amounts of implied and exhibited ass-waggling have earned Levi's (and
Jessie and
Reanin) the attention of the internet.
