New Era, the lifestyle and sports giant, has launched a new campaign aimed at inspiring the next generation of creative minds. The
New Era Introducing is a competition in which creatives from any industry can design a piece of art using the New Era 59Fifty cap as a canvas. The entries are all submitted online to be showcased on the New Era website
gallery.
The competition, created with
The Tailor of Shoreditch, is split into two phases. In its initial phase, the public was asked to design an entry piece to showcase their artistic flair. Designs have been submitted from eight participating countries - United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, UAE and South Africa. From these submissions, 15 from each region will be selected to go through to the next stage by a team of curators from their respective country.
In the second stage, the top 15 entries from each country will be sent a blank New Era cap, along with an accompanying customising kit, and tasked with turning it into a piece of art. Each artist must document the story behind their creations, detailing its birth, experience and influences, allowing the public to see the inspiration behind each cap.
'New Era Introducing is a platform for self-expression and a strong reflection of our brand DNA. We have built our brand by focusing on customisation and collaboration and the opportunity to work on a project with young creative minds of tomorrow is incredibly exciting', explained
Wayne Best, New Era EMEA's marketing director.
The entries will be judged by an international judging panel and all 15 entries from each country will be featured in a touring gallery, visiting all participating countries, and published in a limited edition 'New Era Introducing' book, available exclusively at the events. The winner will also receive a £10,000 bursary towards their career in the creative industries.
